Import Wizard Overview

MetrixIDR provides a complete set of imports for configuration and time-series data. Text files in formats like CSV and Excel spreadsheets are supported. Almost all components of the system can be populated through import actions. Imports can be executed manually through the client application by selecting the Import Wizard option on the Tools menu. This brings up the Import Wizard, which takes the user through a series of pages to configure the import action.

• On the first page of the wizard, the user selects the import type (e.g., Meter List or Meter Data) and selects enters or browses to the file to be imported. This page also provides information about the file format that is expected for the type of data being imported.
• The second page allows the user to enter file criteria, such as whether the file includes a header row and the field separator for text files. This page also provides a preview of the file, allowing the user to validate that the file contains the expected data in the expected format.
• Remaining pages support additional settings required for specific imports, such as interval data imports.
• The wizard concludes with the Finish page, which includes options to view the import settings as XML and to save the import configuration for use in tasks.
