KPI Reports

KPI Reports provide statistics for hour-ahead or day-ahead archived forecasts. These reports compare archived forecasts with actual loads for the assigned Archives. Archives are assigned using the Browse button at the bottom of the Report Properties dialog. Settings for KPI reports are:

  • Computation Range. Set the start date and the end date for the report calculations. If an end date is not specified, the report will be computed through the end of the data series.
  • Data to Exclude. Select status conditions to exclude from report calculations (options are Bad, Filled, Load Control, Load Event, and Incomplete).
  • Level. The level for the KPI calculations. The options are Daily Interval, Daily Energy, and Interval. When set to Daily Interval, statistics are computed for each interval then averaged at the daily level. When set to Daily Energy, daily energy is first computed and the statistics are then computed off the daily energy values. When set to Interval, statistics are computed for each interval.
  • Period. The period for the KPI calculations. The options are All, Per Year, Per Month, and Per Day. When set to All, statistics are computed as the average over the computation date range. When set to Per Year, statistics are computed for each year in the computation date range, for the specified level. When set to Per Month, statistics are computed for each month in the computation date range, for the specified level. When set to Per Day, statistics are computed for each day in the computation date range, for the specified level.
  • Gas Day. When selected, statistics will be computed on a gas day basis using the gas day offset specified (in hours). For the offset, enter 9 to indicate that gas days begin at 9 am.
  • Exception Reporting. When selected, only exceptions above the specified max MAPE are included in the report.
  • Peak Day Reporting. When selected, only days with a peak value greater than the specified Threshold are included in the report.
  • Archives to Evaluate. Use the Browse button to select the set of Archives to be processed in the Report. By default, the Archive Source is used as the source for actuals when computing statistics. The Base Override field allows the user to specify an alternative source for actuals when computing statistics. To remove an Archive Rule from the list, select the Archive and press the Remove button.

KPI reports contain the following information for evaluating forecast accuracy:

  • ArchiveID. The Archive ID for which statistics are computed.
  • DT. The date.
  • Time. The time.
  • MAD. The mean absolute deviation.
  • MAPE. The mean absolute percent error.
  • Avg. Error. The average error.
  • Avg. Pct. Error. The average percent error.
  • N. The number of intervals for the day.

In addition to the above fields, KPI Exception Reports and KPI Peak Day Reports contain the following information:

  • Predicted. The archived predicted value for the interval.
  • Actual. The actual value for the interval.
