Weather Forecasts Tab

MetrixIDR supports multiple weather forecasts. When more than one forecast is defined, MetrixIDR generates a load forecast for each weather forecast and creates the final load forecast as a weighted average of the load forecasts. For example, when two weather forecasts are defined (WthrFcst1 and WthrFcst2), MetrixIDR generates two load forecast, the first load forecast is based on WthrFcst1 and the second load forecast is based on WthrFcst2. The final load forecast is the weighted average of the first and second load forecasts.

Beginning in Version 7.1, users can configure the valid concepts and MPI for each Weather Forecast using the Add and Remove Contributors buttons on the toolbar.

The Weather Forecast Tab configures the alternate weather forecasts. The tab contains the following fields:

  • Weather Forecast ID. The weather forecast identifier.
  • Description. This is the description field.
  • Display Order. The order number by which the Weather group is displayed.
  • Weight. This field is used to weight the results of the final model forecasts. Only the final weighted load forecast is displayed in the Schedule Module. If multiple weather forecasts are created, weighting a forecast with a value of "0" prevents the forecast from influencing the final load forecast, but still makes the forecast available for comparison purposes.
  • Fill Weather Forecast. This field specifies the weather forecast to use when the selected forecast is unavailable.
  • Fill Weather Scenario. This field specifies the weather scenario to use when the weather forecast is unavailable (e.g. missing data or dates beyond the end of the weather forecast).
  • Export. This field indicates whether to export data for this weather forecast if the ExportWeather (Integration (Table-Based Exports)) task is executed.
  • Send to Monitor. In systems with the Forecast Monitor Module, this field indicates whether to send data for this weather forecast to Forecast Monitor.
  • Custom Fields. The custom fields allow users to provide additional descriptive information for record keeping, sorting, or filtering the list.

The child grid has the following fields (Version 7.1 or Higher):

  • Weather Concept ID. The ID of the assigned weather concept.
  • MPI. This MPI of the weather forecast data for this weather forecast and concept combination.
  • Use for Actual. If checked, the observed data for this concept from this weather forecast provider will be used as the actual data for the concept. The MPI of this provider will be the default MPI for display of data for this station.
