Properties Dialogs
Each item shown in a List tab has an associated Properties Dialog. The properties dialog can be accessed from the List tab or from other tabs in a module. To edit properties for multiple items, go to the list tab, multi select the items and proceed to edit properties. To open the Properties Dialog, select an item or set of items in the list and then:
- Select Edit from the Actions menu, or
- Press the corresponding Toolbar button, or
- Double click on the item.
The specific properties available for an item depend on the type of item, and there is a Tab in the dialog for each type. The types vary across modules, but the following four tabs are present in all modules.
- General Tab
- Custom Tab
- Notes Tab
- Node Access Tab
If a single item is selected in the list, the properties for that item will be displayed. If multiple items are selected, only the fields that have a common value will be displayed. Remaining fields will be grayed out. This allows the user to select multiple items and to edit a field to a common value (e.g., decimals = 2) for the selected items.
General Tab
All Properties Dialogs have a General Tab that displays the high-level properties for the selected item. Typically, these properties will include the Item ID, Description, Import ID, and data frequency. The specific details for each module are listed in the help section for that module.
Custom Tab
The Custom Tab on Properties Dialogs displays the values for the custom fields that are available in each module. In single selection mode, the values for the selected item are displayed and edited. In multi selection mode, a value will be shown if all selected items have the same value for a custom field. Edits made in multi selection model will be made for all selected items.
Notes Tab
The Notes Tab on Properties Dialogs allows the user to record notes for each item in any of the List Views. The Notes Tab is accessed on the Properties Dialog for the current module. Notes are displayed in a list that can be sorted and filtered using the same commands as on a List Tab. Each note has two fields, the date entered and the Note Text. The note text is entered and edited directly in the list. A copy of the not is shown in the lower box, which is useful for long notes.
Notes are added to the list by clicking the Add button on the Notes Tab. Selected notes are deleted by clicking the Delete button on the Tab. If multiple items are selected when the Edit command is executed, any notes added on the Notes Tab of the Properties Dialog will be added to all selected items.
The duplicate button allows a note to be duplicated. The note text will be copied, but the date for the duplicated note will be set to the time of duplication.
The toolbar on the Notes Tab also supports filtering and exporting of notes to Excel.
When an item has one or more notes, a Note icon shows in the first column on the List Tab. The contents of the note can be viewed on the List Tab by hovering over the note icon.
Node Access Tab
For systems with multiple access roles defined, the Node Access Tab on the Properties Dialog allows an administrator to modify the list of roles that are allowed to have read and write access to the selected item(s). The tab has Read Access boxes at top and Write Access controls at the bottom. In both cases, the left-hand box contains roles that do not have read or write access, respectively. The right-hand boxes contain the roles that do have read or write access. The right arrows in the middle allow the user to move an available role to provide access to the selected items. The left arrows in the middle allow the user to remove a role that is assigned.
When multiple list items are selected, any access role that is assigned to a subset of the selected items will appear in both boxes. To assign a role to all selected items, click the right arrow. To remove this role for all selected items, click the left arrow.
