Start FWDL

Download a new register firmware image .zip from your mobile device to an ERT, meter, or module. The new firmware image should already be on your mobile device from a recent synchronization with the FDM Tools server.

Field Tools will not allow you to download to the module an older firmware version than what it is currently using. The firmware download can require as long as 60-70 minutes to complete. During this time, and until the firmware download completes, the Windows desktop must remain active. The screen on your Windows device must not be allowed to lock.

Important! If your Windows desktop goes into sleep mode or locks before the firmware download process completes, the firmware download fails and you must restart the Start FWDL command.

When the firmware image transfer completes, Field Tools verifies the transfer status and displays it on the screen Image Verification Successful.

The only supported hardware configuration for performing Start FWDL is with a Windows mobile device (that meets Field Tools minimum requirements) that is paired to the IMR using a USB connection. For more information, see Minimum requirements.
