Read

Retrieve and view meter reading and tamper values from a meter or ERT module. This command is supported by all meter and ERT types.

Some meters may return an unformatted meter reading. Unformatted meter readings are those that don't indicate which digits are from which dials on the meter. Nor does an unformatted reading show the position of the decimal point (if applicable). In these cases, the Read workflow may request you to select the number of dials on the meter. If it does, use the dropdown menu to select the number of dials on the meter and click Done. This step allows Field Tools to format the meter reading, saving you the inconvenience of mentally converting the reading to the correct format.

You must have Read Endpoints permission to perform this function.

Read prompts you for inputs. Expand the device type you're working with for its input details. For descriptions of the read results, see Result and success fields.

40G/GB (Wakeup)

Read Range	The distance between the Itron Radio and the ERT. In most cases, use Default, which is the mobile device's normal range for communicating with the ERT. If Default does not work, switch to Far. Default. The normal range for communicating with the ERT. Close. A reduced power setting that keeps the wake-up tone close to the mobile device. This setting is useful in a warehouse or meter shop, where you are near many ERTs, but want to communicate with just the ERT you are working with, and not all ERTs within normal or default range. Far. A greater communication distance that requires the licensing and use of a long-range radio carrier frequency.

50W (Bubble Up)

Tip: The View Event Log command is embedded within the Read command's workflow. When you view the Read command's Result and Success fields, open Tampers and Events and select View Event Log. Doing so causes the radio to re-engage with the ERT, and get the ERT's event log. The event log is viewable on the mobile device. When you are done viewing the event log, click Close to go back to the Read results.

OpenWay Riva 500W ERT Module

Tip: When the ERT is operating in mobile mode, the View Event Log command is embedded within the Read command's workflow. When you view the Read command's Result and Success fields, open Tampers and Events and select View Event Log. Doing so causes the radio to re-engage with the ERT, and get the ERT's event log. The event log is viewable on the mobile device. When you are done viewing the event log, click Close to go back to the Read results.
