Device Configurations

Device configurations for the OpenWay Riva 500G and OpenWay Riva Water can include multiple firmware download files, which a system administrator can make available to his or her business units. The Device Configurations view lets you attach one or more firmware download files to the OpenWay Riva 500G and OpenWay Riva 500W ERT Module device type configuration. Device configurations can have more than one firmware download file associated with them, but duplicate firmware download files with the same activation dates cannot be associated with a device configuration.

You can import firmware download files to the device configuration at the system level, using the System Administration workbench, or at the business unit level, using the Business Administration workbench.

If using the Business Administration workbench:

• When importing a firmware download file at the business unit level using the Business Administration workbench, the firmware download file is associated only to the device configuration for the selected business unit. If the firmware download file already exists for the business unit, FDM will not complete the import unless the files have different activation dates.

If using the System Administration workbench:

• When importing a firmware download file at the system level using the System Administration workbench, you can select the business units that include the device configuration to which you want to enable the firmware download file as part of the import.

Firmware download files imported and enabled for business units are made available to the business unit's associated devices when the mobile device is synchronized to the FDM server. This makes the firmware download files available to the associated mobile devices available to FSRs in the field who are programming the endpoints.
