Security
Itron Security Manager (ISM) provides security-related functions for Itron enhanced security capable endpoints. It manages security keys, generates secure commands, and facilitates encryption, authentication, decryption, and validation within data collection products. For detailed information about ISM, see the Itron Security Manager User’s Guide.
The Security node appears in the navigation pane only if you enable endpoint configurations (for more information, see Device Configurations) for enhanced security capable endpoints. Use the node’s ISM Configurations view to configure one or more ISM servers for your FDM system, including each server's address and the details of the network security mode employed by FDM to communicate with it. Each business unit can be set to use only one ISM server at a time (for more information, see the explanation of the Business Units view’s ISM Configuration setting under Business Units).
Note: The Security node and the ISM Configurations view are applicable only to systems that use ChoiceConnect enhanced security capable endpoints and have one or more ISM servers installed.
The ISM Configurations view’s Device Details tab lists the devices configured in the selected ISM and their ISM default security levels. FDM uses this information to set the initial expected and current security states of enhanced security capable devices.
