Water SaveSource (200W Series) Endpoints

Itron’s Water SaveSource (200W/WP/WM) Endpoint is a high-output power data collection device designed specifically for use in Itron Fixed Network systems. The endpoint enables the connection of a single meter register or dual meter registers to the same endpoint. The SaveSource endpoint features include data logging, leak detection, and tamper indicators.

To communicate with and program Water SaveSource Endpoints, the FDM mobile application requires two types of files:

• BLK files. Each file defines the driver software required by the 200W to read a particular register type. There can be multiple BLK files, and the FDM server installs these same files on all mobile devices throughout the system.

  When you enable the 200W configuration in the System Administration’s Device Configurations view, FDM requires you to attach a BLK file package to the configuration. FDM extracts the files from the package, stores them, and sends them to your mobile devices with the 200W configuration during synchronization. You must have the Modify Device Configurations permission to perform this task.

• INI file. This is a unique file created for each utility. It contains information on how the mobile device communicates with the 200W. There is only one instance of this file type per business unit.

  When you add the 200W endpoint configuration to a business unit, you must attach the appropriate INI file to the configuration in order to enable it. This allows the FDM server to send the file to the business unit’s mobile devices during synchronization, along with the 200W configuration and the associated BLK files.
