Working with Water SaveSource (200W/WP) Endpoints

The 200W endpoint action command menu includes options designed specifically for use in reading, programming, and troubleshooting Water SaveSource endpoints. To communicate with a 200W, the handheld or laptop running the FDM mobile application must be paired with a Water SaveSource Programmer Itron Mobile Radio (see Bluetooth Device Setup on a Handheld and Bluetooth Device Setup on a Laptop).

When you use any of FDM’s endpoint action commands to communicate with a 200W, you must be aware of its current communication configuration. You must specify that configuration as part of the procedure for performing any of the commands. If you do not use the correct setting in FDM, you may be unable to communicate with the endpoint, or you may program it incorrectly.

There are three possible configuration settings:

  • Pre-Program Factory. Use this setting with an endpoint that has come directly from the factory. Use it to program the endpoint to your utility-specific settings. After that, use the Field Program setting to query or reprogram the endpoint.
  • Field Program. Use this setting to communicate with a programmed endpoint in the field, read its data, or modify its settings.
  • Back to Factory. Use this setting to prepare a programmed endpoint to be returned to the factory for service. It returns the endpoint to its factory default settings and shuts off its bubble-up transmitter. Program endpoints with this setting only if instructed by Itron personnel.
