PCOMP Adjustments for Some 6-dial and 7-dial Meters
Three meter configurations require special handling by FDM when programming gas endpoints:
- 6 dial 5 cubic foot
- 6 dial 50 cubic foot (MCF)
- 7 dial 100 cubic foot (MCF)
Before v3.4, FDM only supported each of these meter configurations at a specific pressure compensation (PCOMP) value. It did not allow options and therefore did not give the FSR a choice of PCOMPs when programming ERT modules for these configurations. This limitation prevented utilities that used FDM from using pressure-compensated indexes with their meters.
Starting with v3.4, FDM allows you to select a PCOMP value when performing a Program Endpoint command on a gas ERT module. To make this possible, FDM automatically adjusts the specified PCOMP value and count rate that it programs into the ERT module. Note, however, that you must select an even PCOMP value. If you enter an odd value, you will receive an error message when FDM tries to program the module.
In addition, when you perform a Check Endpoint command on an ERT module that has been programmed for one of these meter configurations, the check endpoint response screen displays the FDM-adjusted PCOMP value, rather than the PCOMP that was specified when the module was programmed. For the 6 dial 5 cubic foot and 6 dial 50 cubic foot MCF configurations the adjusted PCOMP is half the value of the selected PCOMP. For the 7 dial 100 cubic foot MCF configuration the adjusted PCOMP is one-tenth the value of the selected PCOMP.
