Service Switch Commands

The Service Switch Commands include four commands for connecting service to and disconnecting service from a customer's premises. The following information is applicable only for a CENTRON R450 Advanced/Bridge Meter operating in Mobile (ChoiceConnect) mode, If the CENTRON R450 Advanced/Bridge is operating in Network (OpenWay) mode, see Service Switch Commands in the Working with OpenWay CENTRON Meters section.

The Service Switch Commands include the following four commands for connecting service to and disconnecting service from a customer’s premises.

  • Get Service Status tells you whether service is currently connected to or disconnected from the premises.
  • Connect Service instructs the CENTRON R450 Advanced/Bridge meter to connect service.
  • Connect Service with Intervention is for use when you want customers to determine whether their appliances are in a satisfactory state before restoring power. It puts the meter into a ready state but does not connect service until the field input button on the front of the meter is pushed.

  • Disconnect Service instructs the meter to disconnect service.

Note:  You cannot use the Service Switch Commands with meters that have enhanced security disabled.

The following diagram summarizes the procedures.

If the meter is command secured or fully secured, you must retrieve the necessary secure commands before you execute the applicable Service Switch Commands actions (see Retrieving Secure Commands from the FDM Server).

If enhanced security is enabled on the meter, your FDM security manager may have sent a key exchange command for the meter along with the secure commands you retrieved from the server. If so, the mobile application executes the key exchange command before executing any of the secure commands. If you receive an error message indicating a security key mismatch, synchronize your mobile device with the server and then perform a Get Commands command. If you still receive the message after performing these steps, contact an Itron customer support representative.
