Basic and advanced features
The basic features of FDM Tools are free. These basic features are those that allow a utility to program ERT® modules and meters so they can collect and send billing reads to an automated meter reading (AMR) or advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system.
Advanced features are those that reduce effort; increase safety; improve convenience; provide advanced troubleshooting tools; assist in conservation, revenue protection or customer service; or are features already available in other licensed Itron applications such as Field Collections System (FCS) with Itron Mobile, Temetra with Temetra Mobile, OpenWay® Collections Manager, or Itron Analytics.

Some of these more advanced features may remain part of the basic package for some market types, such as electric, while other market types may find them moved to the subscription for Field Tools Advanced or FDM Tools Advanced.
The following table lists the features and tasks in Field Tools and FDM Tools, and shows whether the feature or task is a basic feature, or one that is included in the Advanced subscription. This list is not considered exhaustive. Features may be added, removed, or moved from one column to the other at any time in the future. Not all features listed as Advanced will require a subscription right away. As we continue moving through development cycles, Advanced features will continue to be moved into that category.
Note: As features move to the advanced category, they will be made part of the same subscription. Itron will not require multiple subscriptions.
