A note about the DDK Meter's first hours of operation

When you unpack a new DDK meter and connect to it with FDM Tools and the FSU, a time period of about six hours must pass before the Distributed Intelligence menu becomes available for use (and visible) in the FDM Tools' Gen5 Riva Electricity Meter menu.

The following image shows the Gen5 Riva Electricity Meter's menu in FDM Tools before and after the meter's first six hours of operation lapses.

At meter manufacture, AppServ is present in the meter as an uninstalled package in the firmware. The firmware must progress through a series of preparations after the meter's initial power on. Postponing firmware preparation until after the meter's initial power up ensures those firmware processes don't interfere with factory manufacture and testing. Because AppServ depends on some of those firmware components, the AppServ installation starts after the firmware preparations complete. The meter, its firmware, and AppServ are designed to function in this way.
