DecodeType
The type of decoding to apply to reading data upon export. The value must be a valid value based on the DeviceType. For more information, see Device types.
The DecodeType attribute determines how reading data is formatted. Reading data should be configured to your organization's specifications so that everyone understands what each digit represents. The DecodeType attribute is applied to the reading data transmitted from the endpoint. The decoding is based on the DeviceType. For example, a water endpoint might transmit 6 dials of information--4 white dials and 2 black dials. The reading is received as 123456, but you might want to view it as 1234.56. A decode type is applied to format the reading the way you want to view it. If you don't set the proper decode type, the data may be displayed incorrectly. Generally, all digits left of the decimal are the billing units and the digits right of the decimal are granular usage data. If you do not provide a decode type, the system will assign a decode based on the Device Type and it may not be the way you want the read data formatted. If you have a Mobile to Itron Analytics only system, the Decode type does not matter as the Itron mobile software (MV-RS/FCS ) does the read formatting prior to exporting the data to Itron Analytics.
