WeatherStation

The name of the weather station that collects weather data for the specified address area. A subscription is required. The value must be the exact weather station ID.

This attribute is used to assign a specific weather station ID that is providing data for each individual service point. The weather data is for the high temperature in a 24-hour period and the total precipitation for the 24-hour period. The weather station ID is assigned per service point and is typically a four-digit value much like your local TV and radio stations. More than likely your CIS system does not have a storage location for the weather station ID, so a lookup table will be required for all expected weather station locations. Assigning weather station IDs can be as easy as all service points getting the same weather data from one source, so you only need one ID that gets hard coded in the MDI for all service points or you can specify a weather station ID based on an area or region depending on the size of your reading territory. Generally, there are multiple reporting stations all over your reading territory. If the weather in your area varies greatly from one area to the other (the coast, versus the valley), you may want to consider assigning weather stations by area or region. For example, you could say all service points in route 123 get assigned weather station ABCD. Or maybe assign them by Postal Code or some other common field stored in CIS. If you are only going to use one weather station, most cities and locations have a reporting weather station at the airport. Itron can assist in helping you locate the proper weather stations.
