MDI interface files
The MDI interface supports the following file types.
- Baseline file. The baseline file creates service points and locations in the ChoiceConnect Fixed Network solution. The baseline file provides predicted performance metrics for each service point that is included in the Itron service-level agreements (SLA).
- Configuration file. The configuration file provides device information during device deployment and when you are replacing or retiring devices.
Note: The maximum length of the MDI file name is 41 characters.
Both the MDI baseline and configuration file types support system initialization and continuing synchronization between systems. Both file types comply with the same MDI interface schema. The schema provides the IsBaseline attribute to define whether the file is processed as a baseline file or as a configuration file.
Note: MDI Baseline and Configuration files are both required for providing accurate project metrics in ChoiceConnect Fixed Network. Outdated installation, grouping, or location information can result in inaccurate values that cannot be relied upon for system operations. Itron Analytics, Collection Manager, and Performance manager do not use Baseline files. Itron Analytics, Collection Manager, and Performance Manager use the configuration files to populate their databases.
