Introduction
The Itron common interfaces provide a predictable, adaptable platform for transferring data between systems. Application developers can implement the common interfaces in various ways, depending on the requirements of the application.
The information contained in this help does not provide product-specific implementation instructions or show which elements and attributes in the interface correspond to any product's database columns or user interface elements.
This help describes the Itron Master Data Import (MDI) interface. Use the MDI interface to transfer baseline and configuration data from a customer information system (CIS) to Itron applications.
Caution: Do not import data via baseline files; use MDI instead. The Itron applications are not the system of record for configuration data. The CIS is the system of record. The MDI interface provides a way to bring information that is stored in the CIS into the Itron applications. When the CIS is updated, the MDI interface communicates those updates to the Itron applications.
Important! The maximum length of the MDI file name is 41 characters.
