ServicePointId

For information about the use of special characters, see Special characters.

The unique identifier of the service point. Each service point must have a unique identifier.

The ServicePointId identifies the location where the incoming service is. For water and gas customers you can think of it as the pipe opening for the service to a single meter. For electric meters it would be the socket. This value is unique and should not be changed after being imported. The value can be a randomly generated value, but Itron recommends that the value have some meaning to the utility. A premises can have multiple service points, but a service point can only have one MeterId (unless the meter is a compound meter). To give more meaning to the ServicePointId, you can add a service type description or an occupancy code. For example, 12345678-IRR could identify an irrigation meter.

The ServicePointId cannot be altered for an existing location. Specifying a different value for an existing location will create a new location while retaining the existing location. The existing location will not be overwritten with the new value. Do not remove a ServicePointId unless the physical site no longer exists and will never be replaced. Never remove the ServicePointId from the system if reads are associated with it.
